Case Study
Photo shoot with
AI technology
Facility Consultants GmbH offers building and facility management services. With a self-developed software for facility management, they support processes within building management.
For a new image campaign, as well as image material for the new website, images were to be created that are related to the brand and show its use in different locations.
The result is a series of different AI-generated scenes featuring a real person and the core brand (red circle / red sphere).
My contribution
The decisive factor for the implementation of the campaign in the form of artificial intelligence-supported images was the fact that it would not have been possible (or would have involved a great deal of effort) to visit the various locations / facilities managed by Facility Consultants GmbH on site and carry out photo shoots there. This was partly due to various safety precautions.
In addition, further costs for the model, make-up artist and their travel time could be saved. It was also much easier to find a date, as the photo shoot could be done on just one day.
The same person as well as an essential part of the company brand should be visible in all the pictures. Therefore, it was my task as a photographer and graphic designer to create a solution that would bring both worlds together. On the one hand, the AI-generated background scenes and, on the other, the portrait shots with the model.
The model pictures were taken in a photo studio in Stuttgart. The technology used here was a medium format camera with an 85 mm lens and a fairly classic lighting setup.
If AI backgrounds and people are to be combined, the right lighting is required when creating the images. It is important to consider where the light hits the person. The AI image lays the foundation, so to speak, for the studio setup in terms of perspective, light and shadow.
The background scenes were prompted by me in Midjourney and then refined and reworked in Adobe Photoshop. The best possible model images from the photo shoot were then cropped and the tonal values were adjusted again for the respective scenes.
Further retouching work was added in image composing until the final images could be sent to the customer.
