Case Study
(Ad)Venture Canada Publishing Inc., Nova Scotia, Canada
The German-language information magazine Adventure Canada East publishes topics about the Cape Breton region in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. Tourists, emigrants and investors will find valuable information about the country, its people and culture. The magazine appears several times a year and is published by the Canadian publishing house (AD)Venture Canada Publishing Inc.

Informative and varied
The magazine consists primarily of many authentic stories about the Cape Breton region. People talk about their everyday lives in Canada and nature plays a major role. A mix of information and enthusiasm for this unique region.
Emigrate and purchase property
In addition to nature and people, another aim of the magazine is to attract potential emigrants to the region. Property agent advertisements and statements from local politicians are also included.

My contribution
Close cooperation with the editorial team in Canada was very important for the realization of the magazines. Due to the distance and the different time zones, there were only a few time slots during the day for an exchange. Therefore, everything essential had to be discussed at these moments. Texts and images were supplied by the publisher. I checked the quality of the existing image material and edited it.
As lead designer, I was commissioned to develop a basic design / editorial design for the magazine. Color concepts, image and text structure, baseline grid, text and paragraph formats, design elements and a structure for a uniform page layout were created. The cover design was also an essential part of this.
A completely new brand for the magazine was also developed and designed in this context. This adorns the head of all magazines.
The wish was to prepare the magazine cross-media, as it was to be published digitally as an online magazine on the Issuu platform in addition to the print magazine. Web links and web views were exported with the subsequent data output.
The magazines were printed by my partner print shop here in Germany. I was therefore also responsible for print approval, color checks and coordination between the print shop and the customer.
